I havent been able to find this exact guitar on the tokai site but did find out that by the serial number 元1410. For example 1990 Japan LS models range from 9001xxx - 9002xxx. All trademarks used are properties of their respective owners. Korean serial numbers always have a high 3rd digit and Japan models a low one. Not only can it help us determine when a specific guitar was manufactured, it can help us clarify which are Tokai Fender copies and those that fall under the Made in Korea serial number schemes. The Tokai Guitar Registry is broken into sections based on the type of guitar (Les Paul, Strat, etc). I can't find this particular model in any of the Tokai catalogs from the time so it may have been a custom guitar of some kind as suggested by the "Custom Edition" logo. There are two more periods where we definitely see some MIJ Tokai ST guitars, but neither have serial numbers. It is black with a shiney gold pickguard. Later 1990s Korean made Tokais have the correct open book style headstock and 7 digit stamped serial number, but usually have bolt on necks while earlier ones had set necks. These numbers correspond directly to the year of manufacture (see below for Korean models). Appears to be from around 1990 (looking at the dates on the potentiometers). Tokai copies of the Gibson guitars (Japanese manufacture) typically have seven-digit serial numbers ('SN') impressed into the back of the headstock. That would make it a 1982 guitar, which it obviously is not. Too high of a number to be a Fender 5 digit.
